The Prologue - John 1:1-18

Today we begin a new series on the life of Christ. There are 4 separate accounts of His life recorded in the Bible - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  Each one gives us a unique perspective and flavor. In this series we’re going to look at Jesus through the eyes of John, the beloved disciple. He begins his Gospel with 3 bold statements

Jesus is God

v In the beginning was the Word – John 1:1a; Genesis 1:1, 26

v The Word was with God and was God  - John 1:1-2; Colossians 2:9

Jesus is the Creator

v Through Him all things were made – John 1:3; Colossians 1:16

v In Him was life – John 1:4; Genesis 2:7; Psalm 139:13-16

Jesus is the Word

v He came to show us God – John 1:4-13, 18; Hebrews 1:1-3; John 14:8-11

v He came to teach us the Truth – John 1:14; 8:31-32; 14:6

v He came to lead us to Heaven – John 3:16; Mark 16:15-16
